Prepare for Battle

Dear Diary,

Recently, I had heard a sermon where the speaker talked about “ THE INVISIBLE ENEMY AKA THE DEVIL”. At that moment, I remembered that I had some negative thoughts come into my mind which caused a lot of strife and panic in me. This past couple of weeks, God has heard my prayer and has been giving me the strength to overcome my worries but here is someone trying to steal my joy, break my peace, make me weak and helpless. Here he is magnifying everything wrong, bad, and telling me that I have no future or hope. Thank God for the promises which God had given, I started to declare and to pray against the Devil and you know what happened? I once again had a peace that passeth all understanding.

My friends, there is a silent enemy amongst our midst who comes into our homes, wreaks havoc, destroys our peace, magnifies our problems, leads us astray, and puts in negative and anxious thoughts.

In John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;

That is why we need to be alert because the enemy is on the prowl waiting to break you.

I Peter 5:8

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

So how do you defeat the enemy ? Paul shows us how in Ephesians 6:13-17, the armor of God. We have heard of it and read it many times but I’m gonna refresh it for us so together we can prepare for our battle.

In Ephesians 6:10-12

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Paul says our fight is with the devil and everything that stands with him, not by our strength but by God’s strength.

Vs 13-17, it talks about the armor of God, remember it and guard it in your heart. They are

• Stand as in not defeated, on the ground, fallen

• The truth of God buckled on your waist

• Breastplate of righteousness which we have received by our faith in Jesus

• Sandals that are ready with the gospel which is the footing in everything we do

• Shield of faith that can thwart everything that the devil brings to the table

• Helmet of salvation which Jesus gave us on the cross, that hope which encourages us and tells us that we are saved

• The sword of the Spirit which is the word of God that the Spirit teaches us through the word what God wants us to know. He tells us not to just read but to let it abide in us to lead us to the truth.

And I would like to end with vs 18

Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints

Get down on your knees and pray. Not only for you but also for others to give His strength to fight the battle. To pray that the devil dare not come into our lives and to not even think for a second that He can take away your joy, peace, love, smile, and put in his little schemes to cause an uproar in our life.

So today, when you wake up in the morning, put on the armor of God and pray for His strength to fight every battle that comes your way. My friend, “ if our God is for us then who can stand against us.”
