Power of Prayer
Dear Diary ,
After the suggestion of my senior PG in college , we watched the movie WAR ROOM. I'm thankful to her for suggesting it because it truly was inspiring and opened my eyes. When prayer comes to mind , I remember my parents. They would always take time to pray in the morning and night. They would read the Bible , kneel down and cry to the Lord and I grew up watching that wondering whether I'll be like them so strong in faith. My father before doing anything important , be it typing a password , he says a word of prayer.
Prayers are so powerful. When I'm facing something difficult , I do my best to pray first because I notice a huge difference when I pray and when don't. I feel peace in my panic and fear and suddenly feel confident knowing it's in the Lord's hands now. This week , there was something we were both praying about and I remember telling my husband "It's been half and hour since we prayed about it, God already answered". We both just laughed. This whole week has been really unforgettable. The concerns that we put forward to God this week , He answered us and really encouraged us to keep praying fervently.
Of course , some prayers take longer time to be answered than other prayers. It's not beacuse He is not listening but waiting for the right time or planning something much more that we could ever imagine. And so we continue to pray steadfast without ceasing and not give up but have faith. I have had a fair share of unanswered prayers but that doesn't deter me because I trust that whatever He does will be the best for me and I remind myself of the list of answered prayers that I have written in my Bible. There were some difficult times but God gave me strength and support and held onto me and those days prayers were the only thing that kept me going.
Prayer is not just about supplications but a communication with God. It's about coming in His presence as you are and reminded that you are a sinner and not worthy of grace but God forgives us. It is about submitting yourself to the Lord and His will. To praise and thank the Lord for all that He has done. A time to look into ourselves and see what we can change about ourselves. It transforms and renews us and refreshes our soul. We experience so much love, comfort, peace and happiness in Him.
My favorite thing is when I become the answer to someone's prayer. It such an amazing thing to see what God is doing in someone's life and you could become a part of it. Prayer becomes a part of you. You realize that before you do anything, you can't do it without prayer. When you wake up or before you go to sleep, while you are driving , walking , or shopping , before cooking , eating , when you are taking big decisions or small decisions. You start letting God help you in all the areas of your life and let him have the reins. You are inviting God into your difficulties.
It's simple , just pray. Go into a quiet room , read the Bible and pray. It's you and God , pour yourself out and be changed for good. In Matthew 6:6, it is written "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you". God bless you.
Jeremiah 29:12
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
