It's Okay Not to Be Okay
I was listening to a sermon this week where the speaker said this one line which really stuck with me. He said, "we are not just facing a coronavirus pandemic but a record high Mental Health pandemic". Last year was tuff for all especially mentally. No one was prepared for this situation which would, unfortunately, force us to stay home and disrupting our connections with other people. Many people struggled with depression, anxiety, addictions, anger, frustration, stress and didn't know what to do with it.
I'm here to tell you that you are not alone in this fight. There are so many with you. You may feel alone but God is with you. That is the promise He made with you that He will never leave you nor forsake you. Things are maybe not going according to your plan and you feel broken and confused. God said that He is close to the brokenhearted and those who are crushed in Spirit.
When we are trying to fix what is broken, we are relying on ourselves to fix it. For a long time, we were able to fix t with some duct tape or bandaid but now it's becoming too hard to keep it together. Instead of depending on yourselves, what If you gave it to God? He says cast all your burdens onto me and He will care for you. He knows our heart and our mind, He understands us and wants to help us. We hold onto our problems thinking we can fix them but we all need help. God is ready to help if you are willing to submit your problems to the Lord.
It's okay to not be okay and God understands that. There is a time to mourn and weep. But in prayer and supplication and through His Word, He reminds us that He is with us, He will take care of us, support us and encourage us. Even when we don't have the words to say, the Spirit will intercede for us.
So I encourage you today to go to God and speak to Him and let go of your burdens and let His peace and comfort that give understanding fill your heart and give you the strength to fight your battles.
Psalm 42:5
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior, and my God.
