All I want for Christmas is Christ
Updated: Dec 25, 2020
It's that time of the year, Christmas trees, decorations, lights, snow, presents, Santa Claus, shopping. It's Christmas. We all look forward to this one with so much excitement. It's a wonderful time of the year but is that it to Christmas just trees and decorations? We know the story, we hear it every year in sermons, occasionally on tv or radio. If that wasn't enough, carol songs do the job as well but yet we still seem to forget the true meaning of Christmas.
I know this is something that we hear so often but there is no harm in reminding ourselves again and again. I was also in the same boat till recently, I was also reminded that all these things don't matter but what matters is Christ. I'm writing this now, that I am not against celebrations, Christmas trees, etc. These are the moments we cherish with our families and our loved ones but what I want to take center stage is Christ, rest everything is secondary. This is my intention. Our joy is not in just these moments but our joy is knowing we are saved, redeemed, restored and we have hope. Isn't that amazing?
I can only imagine that moment when Christ was born and the angels were singing His praise.
Luke 2:13-14 says
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
God sent His one and only Son on earth and Jesus came as a man to die on the cross for our sins so that we could be saved. It's the day we celebrate not only just His birth but salvation which has come into our lives, forgiveness and repentance, payment of our sins, eternal life, love and sacrifice, and most importantly hope. What a wonderful message it is?
This message is accurately noted in Titus 3:4-7
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,
so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
So let us not only remind ourselves but also others and spread the message to everyone so that no one forgets. Not only just that but tell others of this great gift of salvation that Christ has given to us so that more people may receive this gift this Christmas. Let us celebrate with our hands lifted up and worship the Lord our God Jesus Christ, for He is faithful and full of grace and glorify Him for we are saved.
THIS YEAR,
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST
MERRY CHRISTMAS
